US Robotics USB Modem (External)

By sayir ·
Hi !
I'm using a US Robotics External modem with USB port. now a strange one, if I shutdown my computer and then restart nothing appears to happen. I just get that blue screen with Compaq (motherboard)logo. It seems as if BIOS is not checking devices or loading OS.also i changed boot order still it happening. However if I unplug the modem before booting everything is normal. i'm using winxp pro as my o/s.

The system is most likely assuming that the USB is a bootable removeable drive. Exclude USB boot in the boot order in BIOS. I've experienced this one myself.

Given your comment to BFilmFan, I and hopefully no one else will answer your question.

You stated that you changed boot order NOT that you disabled USB boot.

I know you said your modem is US Robotics, but the driver for it may have the same problems as creatives. Try this site: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=PSD_DC040624_CW01
