Hi,
I have been trying for days now to figure this out on my own and decided I better ask for some help.
I have a computer at home which still had the USB 1 ports-2 in front and 2 in back. The 2 in back are coupled up with my lan jack.
I recently installed a brand new PCI combo card with usb 2.0 and 1394 connections. And I also connected a usb 2.0 hub for my peripherals.
I connected the PCI card and Windows XP recognized the card as well as the hub.
But my brand new MS Natural Ergo 7000 transceiver for my kb and mouse will not work if I plug it into the hub or a port on the card itself.
If I plug it back into the front usb 1 port it will work.
I went into the device manager to look over the USB connections and I looked at the kb and mouse info in the control panel.
I cannot figure out why the combo seems to be designated.
I even deleted the Composite USB driver but that did not help. I also had unplugged the front USB from the motherboard and restarted the computer and still no good!
I want to take out the front usb 1 ports, try to disable the rear usb 1 ports and only use the USB 2 pci combo card in conjunction with the hub. All my peripherals are usb 2.0 compatible and I have plenty of room to plug them all in, so the usb 1 ports are useless to me.
Any idea at all how I can fix this? I had also written the manufacturer of the pci card but have not received an answer as of yet.
