USB – all connections stopped working

by gordnfn717 . Updated 17 years, 9 months ago

After I did a minor system clean up the other night (moved some photo/video files to an external hard drive, did a disk cleanup and defrag), none of my USB connected devices are working any longer (except for the external hard drive). In particular, I’m most worried about my printer (but my son can’t get the computer to recognize his PSP anymore either). I have removed the printer via add/remove programs, and then re-installed it. I have also updated the driver. No success. I have also physically disconnected all of the printer connections, re-connected them, and restarted the printer several times. Nothing has worked. I was going to try to do a system restore but someone that worked on my computer in the past disabled it, so that takes that option away. Any suggestions? Any help would be most appreciated.
