Usb devices failing to be recognized by my computer after 30 seconds.

Hi there,

About a month ago all the usb ports on my computer suddenly stopped functioning correctly.

For example if i go to plug my usb 2.0 flash drive it will recognize it and i can transfer small files across but between the 20 and 30 second mark the usb port stops working suddenly as if i had never inserted the flash drive into the computer in the first place.
However my external usb devices such as my usb connected printer , web cam , mouse and keyboard are all working 100% perfectly with no errors what so ever.
I also checked to see that the computer detected my flash drive when it was booted up (which it did.)I then proceeded to check the bios screen under the usb heading and sure enough it showed up that my root usb 1, 2 ,3 devices are all ready and active(depending on which drive i had the stick plugged into.)
This error is common no matter which port i plug my usb flash drive into in the computer. (weather it be into the mother broad itself or into the front computer.)

Useful information:

Iam currently currently using a mesh matrix aspire computer, 7x usb ports (4 on mother broad 3 on front of computer.), running windows xp pro service pack 2.

Any help on this matter would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you
