usb drive format failed and now does not show up in windows

I have a Memorex Ultra Traveldrive 160GB drive that I attempted to reformat as NTFS (ships as FAT32). The format seemed to be working until the very end when it reported it failed. After that, the drive letter disappeared from My Computer. I checked Disk Management and there is no drive available there to assign a letter. I checked Removable Storage in Computer Management also and again, there’s nothing listed there. The drive itself just makes this clicking sound every few seconds (apparently seeking?) while attached to my computer. It makes little sense to me since these 10 minutes I spent using the thing were as much as it’s been used (brand new) and hasn’t been dropped or anything like that. Any ideas on how to reformat it again when its not available in the areas I mentioned above?
