Pen Drive and exturnal DVD Burner, Windows reports that these devices can run faster on a 2.0 Hub Controller. It is claimed however that Win2k and XP SP1 have this support built in, an update through VIA for the KX600Pro Mainboard didnt help.
Any further ideas ? Cheers :-)

The claim is correct what you are being told is that your USB connections are only rated to USB 1 and not USB 2 which is twice as fast.
This could be on the M'Board in which case you either have a USB 1 M'Board and you'll have to add a USB 2 PCI Card to get the faster transfer speeds or you could have a USB 1 Hub which is slowing things down. If the latter is the case replace the Hub with a powered one as it will give you fewer problems.
you may need to update the BIOS *and* the drivers for usb for your motherboard. it is not clear from your post if you did both. did you see this article? might jog something... General USB troubleshooting in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310575
