usb flash drive

How can i format my usb flash drive when i tried to format it prompted that it was write protected, if it was write protected then how could i remove the write protect and proceed to format, the write protect button was already been move on both directions and tried to foramt but same message appeared,capacity is 256Mbytes.

Sounds faulty

Sounds like the lock switch on flash drive might be faulty. If it's a new flash drive, return it to your point of purchase. If not, throw it out and buy another. Flash drives are so cheap now days.

I have never tried this, but I was wondering if you could just select all and delete
Say When you go to save in documents you select
Drive G: then open it up and everything is in there, you have the box open just highlight and delete it.

Have you tried that.

Drive is Write Protected

If it was a file attribute problem (ie. read only), it wouldn't bring up an error message on trying to format the drive. =)
