USB Flash Drive Problem – Windows Vista

by rush3 . Updated 16 years, 3 months ago

In Windows Vista Home 32-bit, I cannot get any USB Flash drive to install. It is listed as a “Other Devices > Unknown” device in Device Manager. When plugging in the device and the device trys to install, it gives me a “Windows encoutered a problem installing the driver for you device” error message. I have tried this with 2 different USB Flash Drives, the recent one a Cruzer Micro 4 GB. My PC is a Dell Vostro 1700 with all of the drivers 100% current. Also, in the Device Manager I have multiple “USB Root Hub” and “…USB Universal Host Controller..” entries under an “Unknown” node.
