I am having trouble with a Dell Optiplex 280gx running windows xp sp2. This machine seems to have slowly deteriorated the ability to read a flash drive. It does pick up other usb devices such as printers, keyboards, mouse. We noticed it first with only one flash drive that sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t. I blew it off thinking the flash drive was not seated correctly. Well now it does not read the flash drive at all nor others that do work on other desktops. I took the computer to the shop where lots of spyware was found and removed, and reportedly all usb devices worked in all usb ports. I took it back to where it belongs and flash drives don’t work. The printer does. I am thinking that it may be some other power problem or something but I was hoping someone else out there may be able to shed some light or provide some advice. I am at a loss as to what the problem could be.
