USB insert freezes computer

by js mooers . Updated 18 years, 8 months ago

I am using three different flash drive memory sticks. Incerting them into the computer (Toshiba Satellite A105-S4024)when running freezes the computer. Before start up, they can be incerted and read. I am using XP Professional edition v-5.1.2600 with Service Pack 2.

I can put these three memory flash drives in other computers, no problem. I have a wireless mouse and printer, no problem if put in while computer is runnning.

I updated my BIOS to the most recent, deleted and reinstalled the USB ports. Nothing helps.

What really makes me mad, if I run linux -ubuntu, the memory drives work fine. Incerting while the computer is running is not a problem.

This has to be a Microsoft problem. I see no place in the Microsoft pages, where you can ask a question or get help from a real person.
