USB Locks UP

Have a Compaq EVO D310V, which I installed Windows 98 on, Came from factory with XP Pro. Downloaded and installed all drivers. Except USB Drivers, I Downloaded Compaq’s and Intel chipset Drivers , and when installing, the system locks up at New hardware Found, “Intel(R) 82801DB/DBM USB Univeral Host Controller – 24C2” Ihave blown away the Inf files, The USB Enum key, and even reimaged the pc. But everytime it gets to that point it locks up. I have the newest Bios update and all drivers. Reset the Bios to factory Defaults. Any help would be great.. Thanks
