Can I add a USB port to my Compaq Armada 1700?
If so, how.

I don't know much about that particular computer, but you can add USB slots to a lot of computers if you have a PCI slot available and your OS is Win95 OSR2 or better (Win98 or higher or 2000 *strongly* recomened). Note: a lot of older computers will require a BIOS update to support USB. Do a search on buy.com (or your fav site) for "usb pci card" and you should find lots of results.

Hmmm...your best bet would be to look for a USB hub that would connect through a PCMCIA card. I'd try an internet search on USB PCMCIA adapter. http://www.usbstuff.com/mboards.html lists one for $89, if you have a Type II slot - I'm pretty sure the 1700s did - Good luck!

A PC card interface is the only way I have found. Belkin makes them with either 1 or 2 connections. They go for less than $100. You must have a CardBus capable card slot. I am 99.9% sure that the 1700 does.
