USB port use causes crash!

I have a pentium II machine which has 2 USB slots on motherboard, they started showing errors and not responding to printers,scanners,or Showed error in hardware profile so reinstalled drivers. no joy. installed pci card with four usb slots, now when you plug device in comes up with oe error in vxd.? What can I do? please help. Thank you.

hummm if you have a mainboard that allows you to turn off the onboard USB ports in the BIOS, turn em off. Might be a conflict between the onboard USB and the USB PCI card. Second is drivers. If your running Windows XP Home or Pro, driver compatibility tends to be a problem. Drivers compatible with W9X/ME/[sometimes]2000 are not always compatible with XP. If you are in fact running XP, see if the mfg of the different componets have updated XP drivers and install them.
