USB Ports

By cleeoy ·
My usb ports keep losing power.
Recently I replaced my power supply, did I do something wrong when I connected everything back up?

As long as the connectors to the motherboard are seated properly, thats all you do to get power to the motherboard and USB ports.

My guess is that you have a motherboard that limits the amount of current available to the USB ports. You may have or had a device that required more current than the motherboard was designed for.

Try disconnecting any USB devices that are power hungry such as a port powered scanner.

If that takes care of your problem, what you need to do, is add a powered USB hub to your system and connect your high power USB devices to the hub.
