I have been through many google searches trying to find a solution to my problem. I was using my laptop earlier today and everything was just great. I plugged in my Logitech Webcam to use on Skype with my fiancee and it did not recognize it and it wasn’t working with Skype. I was curious was to what was going on. I use a Logitech wireless mouse with a USB adapter. It was working perfectly fine. I unplugged the mouse adapter and plugged in the webcam. No dice. So I tried various ports and now none of them work. Not even with my mouse. I began my search on Google. I’ve uninstalled them many times, then rebooted. Nothing worked. I saw that removing the power supply and battery will allow the mother board to lose power and “reboot” therefore putting my USB ports back in action, however, after 30 mins of an unplugged batter, they still weren’t working. I have absolutely no idea what else to do. Can someone please help me. I’m not computer savvy at all, but I’m not a complete dummy either 🙂 so if someone could please help me, I’d greatly appreciate it. Or else my laptop is taking a trip out to the front yard, right through the window.
Oh and on another note: I went into the Device Manager in the Control Panel and it says that all of my USB ports and controllers are working perfectly. But under the section near the top labeled “Imaging Devices” I noticed that my webcam had an “attention” sign near it. It says “Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)” I, then, plugged in my sister’s webcam (same model) and it said the same thing. Both of the webcams work on her computer, but not mine.
One more thing: Remember my mouse that worked perfectly fine? Well now it doesn’t work at all and in the “Device Manager” it says it works fine!
Well I’m ready to pull out my hair so can someone please help.
I run Microsoft Windows VISTA Ultimate although I’m not sure of the Service Pack.
