USB problems …

Greetings all!
I just installed an IOMEGA CD writer on my Compaq, WIN 2000 Professional PC and I can’t write to any CD’s because I’m getting fixation errors (I can, however, read and navigate a CD with no problem)… any idea what that’s about? I think it’s a hardware issue because I have tried 3 different CD writers (2 Yamaha and one IOMEGA) and 2 different pieces of software (Nero & Hot Burn). I’m at wits end (which doesn’t take much to begin with).
