By dnmarks ·

Have you tried removing the scanner from your Device Manager list of system devices (under System in Control Panel) ... and then rebooting and re-installing? Otherwise, maybe you should check that your USB port is functioning properly.

Hi,
this is an idea!
My friend not long ago reinstalled (W9 on his machine, and got his USB modem stop working.
Solution for him was:
- disconnect USB device (modem)
- reinstall OS
- then plug in modem and set drivers for it.

Hope this helps.

MicroSloth is on the right track but I would
from experience remove the usb port itself in
the device manager, when you reboot the usb port should reinstall itself and then find the scanner as new hardware. This happen with scanners especially on laptops with usb connections.

This happened to me as well. I was relocating my PC and I disconnected all external devices. When I reconnected I did not use the same USB port for the scanner as I had used before. By unplugging and re-plugging the plug'n'play feature detected it and all was then OK.
