Pentium III; 400 mHz, 128 RAM. USB, Win 98(SE).
Non-profit organization’s computer. HP 5200 scanner. Has both USB and parallel ports.
Scanner worked using USB before Nimda virus hit the computer. Nimda has been removed. OS has been re-installed. Scanner wasn’t recognized. Uninstalled the scanner software, unplugged the scanner and rebooted (several times) to allow the OS to recognize the configuration. Attempted to reinstall the scanner using the supplied installation disk. The computer will not ever recognize the scanner as being there, even though the cables are securely attached and the power cord is plugged in. There aren’t any indications of conflicts anywhere when I check it in System Properties > Device Manager.
Any ideas?
