I’ve just joined up and I would like to get some guidance on how to get a little WLAN with Internet access set up. I live on a ranch in Brazil and have no telephone land line service. I use cell phones. I have just recently bought and set up a VIVO Flash system which is Internet over cellular phone line. They provide a YiSO model S893v modem.
I have hooked up an external antenna to it and it works great connected directly to one PC. My problem is that I have a Trendnet model TEW-432BRP wireless router set up for my WLAN and need to connect the modem to the router. The modem has only one port (USB 2.0) and the router has a WAN (rj-45) port as well as 4 rj-45 computer ports. How can I connect the USB mosem to the rj-45 router? I bought and tried a USB to rj-45 adapter but discovered it wouldn’t work because it needs driver support from a PC.
What I’m doing right now is hooking the modem directly to one PC and bridging across to the network card output of the PC and connecting it to the WAN port of the router but for this I always have to have this PC turned on. I’m looking for a way to have the modem straight to the router without the need of a PC so any PC in the WLAN can directly access the modem. I already cloned the MAC address of the main PC to the router and it works.
