Usb to motherboard

By adminmichael ·
The other day I bout a computer shell at bestbuy to upgrade the case to make it look a little newer but my problem now is it gives me the option to have 2 USB ports in the front and an audio jack but in that older computer the motherboard dont have a plug to fit those needs is there a converter out there where I can convert plug to plug? To make it work with that motherboard?

this may help

by markp24 In reply to Usb to motherboard

Hi,

We would need to know what the interface is in the case usb cables, are the USB ends or a propriatary pinout. Sicne you say the Motherboard does not have any USB connectors on it to connect to the fron panel, it must be pretty old (Most Pentium 4 boards did have this) Some Add on cards have the ability to connect usb to the front, via usb ends.

here are some examples
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=usb+card

for the audio, you can use an audio card (ie creattive labs, etc)

If its a propritary pin out, then you may be stuck

good luck!

Audio: An audio card with the appropriate connectors.

i.e., enough connectors to provide sound to all the jacks you expect to use.

Pentium III?????

Really??? Wow.... My advice would be to save your money and purchase a bare-bones system from an online retailer....unless you plan to run an operating system that is either discontinued (in terms of support) or very soon will be.
