It might be just as easy to get a small USB hub. A 4 port one cost about $15-$20

Definatly a usb hub is the way to go, but make sure if the device you are hooking into the hub draws alot of power you buy a self powerd hub as the power from the USB port and bus is only so strong and may not be enough. Have fun.

As has been mentioned you can extend your USB availability with a USB hub (self-powered or not - consider your needs).

Some motherboards will let you add 2 more USB ports. Have a look at the OEM (PC or MB mfg.) website and see if you can find out about this possibility.

You have a number of options;

1) Add a card with 2 USB ports (piece of cake)

2) Add a HUB (they're cheap) for as many ports as you want but I will warn you that you'd be better off if the hub itself has power so it doesn't draw it from your computer - the load may bog your computer's power down thus creating problems.

3) add peripherals that have USB ports in them so you can "piggyback" on the USB chain - in other words, like keyboards that have an open USB port on the side of it so you can plug yet another USB item to it.

Good luck.

Just a stab in the dark but, here goes. If you are using 4 devices, might two of them be a mouse and keyboard? If so, look on the keyboard itself. The new HP keboards have a built in USB hub. They just dont mark them well anymore. Not very likely but worth looking.
