Use of the Windows Logo

By John-P ·
Can the Windows Logo be used on a website with free information about using Windows XP. I know you couldn't use it to market something, but what about on a website.

Thanks,
John

Probably not

It's still their copyright. Unless you have their permission, they could sue you for copyright infringement.

Not legally but may not be charged

Technically no one can use another's logo without their prior permission, preferably in writting. However, if all you are doing is displaying a copy of their info etc that ibncludes the logo it is doubtful that many people would take you to court on it.

The resellers who sell a company's product are given the legal right to use the logo to sell the product as part of the reseller agreement, but they may only use it for advertising that companies products or advertising that they sell those products.
