how can you hide a user account in the user folder in Windows XP. I don't mean hiding the profile name on the initial log in screen.

Just check off the hidden attribute for the user's folder you wish to be "hidden."

Let me elaborate on the issue. The users folder shows three profiles: administrator, guest, and kealing. The guest profile is disabled. Windows explorer shows the following profiles: administrator, aecopela, all users, and kealing. It is the aecopela profile that I need to know how it is being hidden in the user's folder. The hidden attributes is not currently checked so it is not hidden. The user can successfully log into this profile. I guess my question should have been "how do I unhide a profile"

Check the registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \
Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon \
SpecialAccounts \ UserList

Check the User Account Name and make sure the value is set to 1.

Concerning the comment:

Check the registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \
Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon \
SpecialAccounts \ UserList

Check the User Account Name and make sure the value is set to 1.

*****************************************

That will hide the account name on the initial Windows log in screen but it will not hide the profile name in the users folder or in explorer. I have already checked that registry entry and the account name is not listed.
