User-based Traffic Shaping

by douglas choma . Updated 16 years, 2 months ago

I’m trying to find a product that can perform traffic shaping (throttling) of our Internet connection based on individual users and/or groups.

All of the products that I’ve researched so far (Juniper Netscreen, Sonicwall, Fortinet) seem to only handle rules based on protocols/ports. I’ve also tinkered with Untangle, but it doesn’t provide any traffic shaping capabilities.

Ideally, we would be able to auth against an existing Active Directory; although that’s probably asking a lot.

It would also be nice if this were an integrated firewall solution; so that we don’t need *another* dedicated box just for this task.
