User Can not access a share

    Locked

    by nhoek ·

I have an off and on problem with a few users on our network not being able to access one of thier shares. They are all running Win 98 SE and the server is a Win NT 4.0. They mapp to these shares when htey log on using a login script. When I check the permissions they are ok. They can see the share but can’t get to it. Then if I check the permissions and have them open another share and then go back to the origninal share and thry to open it most of the time they can.

    Any ideas on this one?

Seems as though you don’t have the security set properly.

try cleaning the system good, defrag and all. Then remove and re-add networking components on the client machines. I would test on 1 first.

It sounds like the systems are “losing” the network temporarily.

You can also try mapping it outside of the logon script and see if that works better.

recreate the folder and the share again.

in order to do that, remove the share, then rename the folder.
now create a new folder with the same name as the previous one, share it again with the same name
copy the files from the old folder to the new one.

      Let the users login again.
