Was the question posted concerning User Deleted another way to discuss the age old problem of why comments are not made when a answer is given and when rejected or accepted why that answer was rewarded or not rewarded points.
Bonding is a great thing !!!!

I think it's part of both questions. Most of us, being in the technical field, are naturally curious.

I think a lot of people are seeing User Deleted appear much more often lately, and I do think that there's some sort of bug that seems to make itself apparent when we tend to make a long answer (or get interrupted) and the question/answer times out.

And maybe even some user logon issues that maxwell_t_edison's link to the TechRepublic FAQ pointed out.

But ultimately, it's good feedback to know when an answer has been helpful (or not) or why. This I feel whether or not the answer is Accepted or Rejected. In both cases, I'd like to know and really appreciate knowing.

Technology grows each day; each day we learn more and more. That's what is great about this forum !!!!!! Feedback definitely helps!

You have a point and I too would like to know whether the poster actually tried it before rating,Istarted using the forum and still do as a learning tool.
I did not see a post from you on the Windows XP question I posted, your opinion would have been welcomed.

I totally agree, soulrider.

I enjoy answering people's questions and its nice to have the "carrot" of the points system. Its fun.

But when it comes down to it, a friendly reponse to an answer is worth far more than points to me.

...and it pisses me off to no end when someone rejects all the answers and closes the question with no thanks or comment.

...and DOUBLY so when they're asking for an opinion so you can really be wrong!

I think TechRepublic needs to have a mechanism in place to check the awarding process a little better before points are irrevocably awarded and the question closed.

Too many times people have got back to me saying "sorry, I meant to award you points but stuffed up closing the question".

I guess Ishouldn't ***** about how people use the system - most of them are new to it - but its stupid that someone rejects my answer when its simply asking a question to get more information to help them.

We all know they're simply meant to post a comment but its not very obvious to do that.

The TechRepublic interface needs a good revamp, I think.

Oh, and while I've got the chance, well done! You must've helped thousands of people over the months/years.

Cheers,
Tim.

Sometimes it cannot be helped when you are not paying attention to what yo are doing and sometimes EGO gets in the way whereas it's about me.Get my drift
I am not sure you will get your wish, and sometimes what they put in place does not work for the best.Last year was a mess when it came down to archiving and closing questions.
