We are currently runnuing a Winnt 4.0 network with SP6a, MS Exchange, and MS SQL 6.5, etc. (basically an all Microsoft Shop). About 4 days ago we had a user that would randomly get booted off the network and his account would become locked.
We removed another machine that had the same name as the users machine from the network. An application was run to give the remaining machine a new SID. This machine was then added to the domain. Within 30 minutes the user was kicked off the network and the account was once again locked.
As a workaround, we created a new account for this user and gave his existing email account an additional alias. This seems to be working for now. However, we have experienced three more incidences of this happening, one existing user an two new users.
Do you have any idea as to why this is happening.
