User Groups in W2K Active Directory

By wilbrian ·
I have a Novell background. Active Directory is a bit confusing. How do I set up Groups of Users in Active Directory so that I can assign rights access various folders by which Groups the Users belong to?

User Groups in W2K Active Directory

To create a Group, open the Active Directory Users and Groups MMC console. Select a container for your group on the domain structure tree on the left pane, right click in the right pane, and choose New -> Group. Give the group a name; if you want tocreate a group for security/access purposes, leave all other options at default. Once the group is created, you can add users. Just double click on the group name, choose the Members tab, and start adding users from the domain list. When you want toadd this group to a folder's access control list, the group name will appear on the list of domain users/groups on the Security tab of the folder Properties.
