Is there a way on the windows xp client to set the user HOMEDRIVE and HOMEPATH to a network share so as to when the user do a FILE | SAVE AS it opens to their respective network drive eg. x: | \\server\sharename\username, just like in old Windows NT.
Environment:
Windows NT Domain, XP clients & 2000 clients.
I’ve run the set command, the display shows:
HOMEDRIVE=C:
HOMEPATH=C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\USERNAME
When I change this with the set command it does not retain the change. When I change it in the registry (HKEY_USERS\SID#\VOLATILE ENVIRONMENT) and reboot it does not retain the change.
Does this setting have to be done from an AD environment or is it possible with the current NT Domain structure?
