user ID on network printer

By lesnol ·
How can I get printed documents to display a user id as a header/footer .Running windows sbs 2003, multiple printers 50+ users. Management are having an issue with sensitive documents being left lying around in printer trays which subsequently "nobody" sent to print.

You would have to do that via a Word template and not via the printer.

Simply create a header/footer for everyone that by policy must be used when they create a document.

The real answer is to not let everyone have access to sensitive company documents or have everyone sign non-disclosure agreements and keep non-company individuals out of your workspace.

You could set all the printers to print a banner page, so if prints are just forgotten or not collected, you know who's printed it.
But if someone is leaving printed documentation intentionally, then it might be worth turning on auditing for the printers so you know who's printed what.

Try CZ print polisher. It will help you to print username or computer name as footer.
