By dkent ·
Is there a way that I can create some kind of log file of when users log in and out of there PC with active directory. I would like it so when the user loggs in or out it creates a notification for us.

any help will be appreciated.

In the Windows 2000 Resource Kit, you will find a small program called 'now.exe'

place this on a network share and then create a batch file or script with this information.....

\\<server>\<share>\now.exe %username% --
%computername% >> \\<server>\<share>\logon.txt

Place this all on one line. This will create a log file of when each user logs into the domain, what computer they use, and also the user name that they use to login as.

Hope this helps

Yes. There is a small free small program called bginfo.exe (you can download it from every decent site. eg. CNET, ZDNET, etc...)
This program gives you all the System information in your desktop. There is an option there which you can put all the information of computer ( I mean EVERY information.. e.g. login date and time, IP address, processor type, etc.) to the MS-access (.mdb) file. Then you can retrieve data from this file ...

Good luck ..
