User profile folders

By rodmanbrowning ·
Recently I was deleting old users from my companies Windows 2000 server to try and recover disk space. When I tried to delete the profile folder I got an "ACCESS DENIED Source file may be in use" on two of them. The user has been deleted so how is afile still in use? I desperately need the disk space. How do I resolve this issue?

Try taking ownership of the directories. Even though you are the admin you may not have permissions to the folders since the system created them for your user

You may also have to check the box that says "Reset permissions on all child objects and enable propogation of inheritable permissions"
