User profile migration

Welcome and Happy Holidays all,

I am in the process of starting a migration of user ID’s from one format to another. This involves the changing of the name. This will be for AD intergration in the near future.

I am looking for a tool or script that will change the userid’s profile from one name to antoher. We do not want to re-create each users desktop.

Is it possible to change the existing profile name to reflect the new userid and keep the same settings? For ex. bsmith (old) to smith.ben (new).

What are the steps to complete this? It sounds like I can login as local admin and rename the profile. Is this true? What about a script to rename the profile from a floppy?
