user profile not in my docs & settings

By dnelson17 ·
Why is there not a folder in my name in My Documents and Settings?
I renamed the ex-IT support person's account on the DC and created a user profile for myself on my local computer. Yet, when I open My Docs & Settings, it defaults to his/ex's folder and there isn't a folder in my name. I've been out of IT support for over 1 year and can't figure out the fix. Thanks for your help!!

i would go into System Properties/Profiles on local computer and copy old IT guys profile to mine, basically make a new copy under my name. then i would go into control panel users/check my username properties/Profile tab and make sure mine was steered to new profile.
after all working you can delete old profile to be tidy.
The microsoft books are a lot better than they used to be. my 2 cents is ask management to buy you mcse set for windows 2000 (or really go for it and get win2003 they are close enough to give you value even tho you don't use that os yet)
go for 'plan and administration of windows 2000 domain'. hang out at support.microsoft.com and www.microsoft.com daily. put on those critical windows updates. have fun. this job will keep you humble...

Because it's a folder name. Even though you change the account name, it won't change any folder names. This has been the same for NT and 2000.

Change the name of the folder manually. To do this you may have to log into the computer as another administrator so the folder isn't in use when you change it.
