User roaming between two Cisco AP’s constantly

by jellerbroek . Updated 18 years, 8 months ago

Multiple Cisco Aironet 1242AG Autonomous access points in an indoor environment. Using a self signed certificate, radius server (IAS) , group policy for machine certificates, wireless policy to auto connect AD users with dial in permission to connect to the non-broadcasted ssid.

I actually followed a guide on here, and everything works perfectly.

I do have one issue, and it just so happens to be with the CFO of the company..lol.

She sits in an overlap zone of two access points. I can see in the IAS logs, that she is getting constantly passed between AP1 and AP2, appears to be connected to one for 3-6 min, then passed to the next, and back and forth.

I need to find a way so that when she is in her office, she doesnt get passed back and forth, but when she is on the move, she still has the availability to roam and connect to other AP’s.

Maybe theres a profile option i need to be looking at, she docks her laptop when shes in her office. If i restrict her to certain channels, she will miss certain areas of the building when roaming.

Am i missing something obvious? Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
