By hoffies ·
Hi. User with Win XP Pro. Using for a while with default admin account, and recently added another one for someone else. The two accounts exist in user management under my computer, but the original account doesnt appear in the welcome screen. it can be logged onto with CTRL+ALT+DEL when pressed twice.

Follow these instructions on how to hide or unhide a user account on the welcome screen.

1. Open Registry Editor. (start button then run and type regedit)

2. In Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList

3. Create the following entry: DWORD

(Name the DWORD entry the username you want to hide or unhide from the Welcome Screen).

4. Assign a value of 0 (to hide the account)
Assign a value of 1 (to unhide the account).

5. Close Registry Editor.
6. Reboot.

You can also download TweakUI, address below, run the program and there is an option to show administrator on the Welcome Screen. The default for windows is to hide Administrator on the Welcome Sreen.
