Users and printers

By info ·
Is there a way to have all users be configured to find the network printer. We are running w2k 2000 server and XP pro. I can add a printer logged in as admin but then each user has to add the printer under their name Is this a GP thing or is there another way to setup under this siuation we have over 100 users using the lab of 30 computers

You can create a log on script to setup the printer for you, or you can bypass the server all together by creating a Standard TCP/IP port to connect directly to the printer. It'll treat it as a local printer and all users will see it. To create a TCP/IP port start the printer wizard, select local printer (uncheck detect my printer), then select Create a new port, and choose Standard TCP/IP port. The rest is pretty self-explanatory.
