Did you know that Foxconn, producer of apple i- this and i-that products is treating its employees so badly that they jump off the buildings while apple shares and profits soar? It is like working in a prison, all employees can not leave the factory. The eat, live and sleep there with no freedom. Slavery or labor camp, call it what you like, but apple and Nokia and Dell should be ashamed of it.

Apple isn’t the only company that uses Chinese labor or purchases components from Foxconn, so I don’t know why you singled them out in your title. Nokia and Dell aren’t the only ones either. If you’re going to mention specific companies, either mention all of them or acknowledge that this practice included other companies besides those you named.

I can’t believe anyone would be surprised by this. Read ‘The Jungle’ by Upton Sinclair; substituting manufacturing for meat processing, and China for Chicago. That’s about where the workers in China are currently in terms of conditions and rights. I’d be curious to see if the Chinese attempt to form labor unions, and if so, how the government reacts.

In any event, I don’t think anyone will really take notice of this until the impact trickles down to the end product pricing. In that case, the manufacturing bases will just be moved somewhere else to keep the products cheap and flying off the shelves.

      Somali made processors, anyone??
