I have a client that had a problem pop up this morning upon return from the 3-day weekend. Users are getting the “Logon failure. The user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.” message.
I’ve tried the Microsoft recommended fix (run the network setup wizard), cancelled the share, re-established the share (reboots between actions) and still have the same problem.
The “server” can see the shares on the other three machines in the office, and the other machines can see each other’s shares, but none of the other machines can see the shares on the “server”.
“server” is running XP Home (don’t ask – I inherited the client this way) with auto updates turned off. Client machines are running a mix of XP Home and XP Pro. No firewalls (all are explicitly turned off).
I’m open to suggestions and no, I can’t upgrade the “server” to XP Pro at the moment.
