Users mail box sent items missing

We have Exchange Server 5.5. One of the user sent items are not appearing on the Sent items folder in microsoft outlook even after checked save copies of messages in sent items folder in tools-options-email options. Even if he login to different desktop computer also same problem. It could be problem in his mail box in our Exchange Server. How to troubleshoot this problem.Please help me.
