Small network with Win2k server and some Win2k Pro and a few NT workstations.
After resetting the Boss's password he is now unable to access his e-mail via Outlook Express on either NT. Can access the Internet. The error messages are as follows:Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to initialize the stored directory. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Contact Microsoft Support for futher assistance (0x80004005, 5)

Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized. Outlook Express may not be installed correctly.

1. Disk is not full
2. Memory is 32 mg Ram
3. Other users on same computer have no problems.
4. Admin reinstall of Office 97 has not helped.

I created a new user and copied the files to his new user folder (changing permissions to allow new user access) but error remains the same. He has a roaming profile and one other user gets the same error message.

I think the best option will be to uninstall the outlook express and uninstall the office 97 fully. After that you can go to the regedit and remove all the files that are related to the outlook express and office 97.
Once you have completed this restart the machine, then first install office 97 then restart the machine configure the outlook 97, and outlook express you can make any one as default by going to the internet proporties.
NOTE: while deleting the files in the REGEDIT make sure you delete only the office and the outlook express files alone

Sorry. Did not work. A tech friend suggests that they may not have permissions granted to their desktop so will check this. Thanks for your help/

you shouldn't be able to run Win2K on 32 MB of memory anyways, the setup requires 64, and the MS minimum is 128MB,,,
Have you tried throwing in more memory, just to try it???
Wouldn't be suprised if it fixed your problem,, It's happened to me before...

This particular computer has NT4 as its OS. The server is Win2k and has heaps of ram. MS Office 97 has been installed to the c drive of the NT computer as well.
