Last April, my Dell crashed. BSo’D a few times, and then it just wouldn’t go on again.
I am buying a new computer, and my friends attempts to get into the old HD to grab the files I do not want to lose have failed. Also, I don’t think Linux likes my crashed drive to much.
So, some research later, I discover ‘Hard Drive Enclosures’.
Ok, I get how it works. It comes with instructions, comes with the wires, but I have some questions I couldn’t find answers for.
1) The computer Crashed. Died. Wouldn’t go on ever again, and doesn’t want to be resurrected. Will the HD Enclosure still work?
2) That computer had Windows XP. The new system will be Vista. Will the two talk?
3) If the answer to either (or both) of those is no, and this won’t work, what can I do to recover the data, without paying hundreds of dollars finding out at a PC repair shop?
