Using an AGP video card with NT 4.0 SP6

Please help……I can not get NT 4.0 SP6 to use a new AGP video card I installed. The video properties always shows a standard VGA card with settings for 16 colors and 800×600, even tho I installed the video cards NT drivers both via their automatic install, them manually…..Please inform me on where I am screwing this up…..
