Using Fax in Windows XP

By jbryan ·
When I tried to use the fax loaded in windows XP the telephone lost it's dial tone and I had to disconnect my phone line to the modem to re-establish my phone's dial tone. I use a 512 LAN to get on the internet and I'm not really sure how to configure the fax to use a phone line.

Any ideas on how to set up the fax so it will work correctly.

Not sure if you are using windows. Considering that you want to configure Windows XP fax.
I am forwarding you the page that Microsoft has given for configuring the fax.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q306550
Please go through the above mentioned page.

The fax would not show any messages being sent or received and no indication of them being received. until I made the following entries:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\ClientProtocols]
"ncacn_np"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncacn_ip_tcp"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncadg_ip_udp"="rpcrt4.dll
"ncacn_http"="rpcrt4.dll"

be sure to save the orginal entry before you modify it in case the additional code doesn't solve the same problem I experienced. If the problem is not resolved or if it creates another problem because of your configuration you can detele the changes and reinstall the original codes.
