Using flash drives to boot ubuntu, bt3, and such.

I have been using a flash drive to boot up ubuntu and bt3 (http://www.remote-exploit.org/backtrack.html) and I was hoping it would keep any config changes I made, but it’s actually just like booting up with the iso.

Since I had been only using the tools that originally came with ubuntu and bt3, the fact that I couldn’t save any changes wasn’t a problem. However, the situation has changed a little. I’m gonna have to use GNS3 (http://www.gns3.net) for one of my networking classes, and the linux version is a lot better, but I have to install it.

So, is there any way I can actually install ubuntu on a flash drive rather than just booting it like a cd?

Thanks for the attention.

Ben
