Using "NET TIME" is a script

By cooperbc ·
I want to use the NET TIME command in a script to sync the local NT workstation PC's with their respective NT servers. However, I'm having a problem with user rights. It doesn't seem to be working. Hmm? Any ideas?
NET TIME \\SERVER /S /Y How close am I?

You don't need the \\SERVER name in your script because it will specify the remote computer and users don't have rightd to change time on your server.

net time \\SERVER /set /yes
That's is it.
Is it placed in the right folder?
X:\winnt\system32\repl\import\script
What rights could be afecting the time set option?

I hope you get it to work!

The syntax is fine, and it should sync the local workstation time to the server. But it will only work if the user has permission to change the system time. If your users are set up as Administrators or Power Users of their own PC's this is automatic. Otherwise, you can go to User Manager, select policies, then User Rights, Change the System Time, and select Everyone (or whatever group you want).
