I have the same problem on a couple of different servers. Here is the basic scenario. I want to do a full backup once a week. I want the backup to overwrite whatever may be on the tape and want that tape to stay in the drive. At the end of the month, quarter, whatever. I want to either pop in a new tape or rotate in an old one that is no longer needed. I am trying to avoid having to manage the media in the NT backup program. I want the backup job to run regardless of what tape is in the drive. I have tried adding the /UM switch to the command line of the backup job, but it just tells me “media not found” when the job runs.
