Using RAS

By milesrrs ·
Hi
I am running W2k server and have set up RAS to allow incoming calls. When i dial into the server up pops a box asking for username password and domain name.....when supplied i am connected to the w2k server. But if i try to connect to a share (by start .... run \\server ) or similar, up pops another box asking for a password....my question is where do i set that password....????

Hello,

What client OS are you dialing into the Win2K RAS box?

If it is Windows 9x then make sure you've got Client for Microsoft Networks set as the default logon in the Network control panel. Also, under properties for Client for Microsoft Networks in the above box, it should be enabled to logon to the domain (the NETBIOS name defined for pre-win2k connectivity).

This may help you in your situation. The password pops up in instances where the client has not sucessfully logged onto the domain.

Unfortunately this didnt help me as i beleive this is a NT(W2k) permissions issue rather than a dial up permissions issue....

In the RAS setup on the W2K machine, make sure the option is set to allow connections to the network and not "Just this Machine"
