Using Thinc Mail with Gmail

Hi, Does anyone use the Thinc Email client to download their Gmail messages?
I downloaded Thinc Mail client. I have all the servers correct when I configured it. But when I want to download my Gmail into Thinc mail I get the message
“A network communication error has occured. Error = connection to the remove POP {Email} Server closed by Server or dial-up {I have cable internet}
Error occurred in function EmailReceive ConnectionClosed.”

The “Help” files in Thinc said the client would automatically look for “authentication” and go according to that.
Can someone help? I see nowhere to put ‘my server requires authentication’ into Thinc’s configuration.
