I am the net admin for a small school district and am changing from NT 4 to Server 2000.
Are there any issues in installing a 2000 server as a different domain to begin new account entry etc while letting the office staff continue use on the PDCof the now existing domain.?
I have not come up with a “bad” side to this.. My plan is to get the “new” domain established and shares etc in place and simply add the newly formatted computers to the new domain as they are finished, thus leavingthe office computers (in many locations) networked untill the switch. I will need to update the school data bases (etc) to the most current at the time of the switch.
I do not want to migate to server 2000 due to alot of “junk” for lack of a better word, that i want to rid from the systems. I will then reinstall Proxy (or ISA), exchange, the web page, user accounts etc and be able to test the new system prior to changing the few stations that are now needing the network……
